many thanks sami , turned out to be dodgy switches i think which some contact cleaner sorted out eventually.

Hi,
it could be just the switch: contaminated contacts inside the switch or bad contact to PCB due to solder fail. Needs some work to find out if it is either one of the cases.

The chord memory seems to be doing the same ...
 
has anyone any ideas on what these may be ? the memory seems to be working fine and storing patches , all edits etc , everything else works fine...
