I love my EX-800, however I notice when I have the Chorus on, and ONLY when I have the Chorus on (parameter 48 turned to 1), it "crackles" when the cutoff (parameter 41) is above lets say 32 and is introducing additional harmonic content. This is not just the L+R output, but it comes out of the Phones. It's not the signal coming in hot, because I can have the Volume know at 1/8, and as long as the Chorus is on, that crackling is produced. The moment I turn it off, the crackling is not introduced into the audio, again, regardless of where the Volume is set. I have no problems with any static coming from my knobs, and quite honestly, I got this unit second from someone who bought this new in 1984 and used it seldom and it is in brand new condition (at least cosmetically.)
Is this a characteristic of the KLM-598 Chorus chip? Or rather, is it that my chip is just so old it needs to be replaced? Thoughts?
Thanks!
Greg
