You could get a "MIDI CPU" from Highly Liquid and make just about any individual knob or switch you wish for HAWK 800 parameter controls.
I've thought of doing a re-case like you are doing.. but do it with a SteamPunk theme to it.. like maybe use Nixie Tubes for the display.. have a ton of old Chicken Head knobs and some other early 20th Century test equipment components.
Maybe even use an old adding machine keypad of some sort for the numerical buttons.. (I'd love to use typewriter keys!).
If only I had a ton of spare time to do it.
