Thanks much for the reply, I was getting worried no one wanted to converse with me, or had no ideas to assist me.
Yea, I wouldn't be so cruel as to sell this gangly ol' beast to an unsuspecting customer. I may donate it to Michael if I wind up buying one that's more functional. Have my eye on one on EBay right now....but
Sadly, I tried pretty much what you did to no avail. ( I even also use Audacity , nice little program, I use it often to digitally slow down songs I'm trying to learn to get the nuances.)
I have several copies of the original factory load from various sources. One's a digital copy I made from the original cassette I still have which worked last time I had the 'board out 5 years ago. I even tried user made patch sets people had posted...Oh and I'm fairly certain I did not use MKII loads by accident.
I can't be the only guy that has this issue. I've read many many forums of Poly800 users having trouble getting it to load patches but usually some sage advice on volume/gain and setting the switches correctly solves it. Unfortunately, I think my problem is hardware related on the poly itself. I've tried every combination of high/low + volume + gain + different wires ( mono/balanced/stereo/unbalanced) + crying a little and even bargaining with a crossroads demon. No luck.
My Tape/Load toggle switch is getting a little funky, If I bump the Poly it sometimes will leave the `load' screen back to `11P' and I have to switch it back and forth a couple times to get it to work again. So, for giggles, I'm going to try putting in new toggle switches on the back panel just to be sure that's not it. I'm taking trip to Radio 'Snack' tonight for parts.
I'm also installing a dedicated memory battery on board, SO I can at least manually load patches and not worry about losing them when the C batteries fail.
Cheers
