Thank you all for your replies, but I'm still a little confused.
The manual states:
- Be sure to use only the recommended KORG 9V AC adapter (rated at 300 mA). Other types of adapters may cause malfunctions and can even damage the Poly-800.
- Make sure that you are using the correct KORG adapter for your local line voltage. Unusually high or low line voltage can also cause malfunctions.
From your experience, it seems that adapters with other voltages work, though I thought I'd be safe with a 9V 300mA adapter. But apparently polarity is an issue too...I thought it would have been standard. And the second bullet above seems a little ambiguous.
