There is a lot of leeway in low-voltage DC applications. Probably
anything from 7.5 to 12 volts would work, although you want to get
the voltage as close as possible, especially in high-current
situations. I have a Korg 9V 300ma adaptor that came with my midi
pedalboard, and guess what? It's putting out 11 volts! Go figure.

Meaning don't plug a 110v adaptor into a 220v socket! The reverse
is also true.

Polarity of the adaptor is up to the manufacturer. Some choose
center negative, others center positive. Any good aftermarket
adaptor should be configurable to either setup.
