if they're .001uf capacitors, they're likely for power supply decoupling. Therefore, find a ground, find the voltage supply and solder one leg of the capacitor on each. It should very likely be near the IC itself. if you leave that capacitor totally off it shouldn't make a difference to the project.

And keep in mind for next time that electronics projects are always sold inherently as is and if your area of expertise precludes you from being able to troubleshoot it yourself, then you probably should pass on it or have someone else build it for you.
