Yeah, silly me. R96 is the tape out from the Korg. It will give a stronger signal when you want to save your patches to tape.

I've always used my computer line out and didn't have to change R96 either.

Are you actually using a tape recorder? You will need to use the tape out socket. Playing it out through a headphone socket or line out will not be strong enough probably.
Change Resistor R96 inside the Poly-800 to 4.7K. It will take some finding on the schematic. Then you can play from a computer or most modern playback methods then.

Can soomeone please give me some advice on loading data from tape recorder to keyboard. encountering error many times - adjusted volume a thousand times,tried high and low switch at back of korg. Any tips? Thanks for letting me join this prestigous group of korg poly 800 owners.
