Yes, you need to install a new memory backup battery. Most Poly-800's have a location in the middle of the main printed circuit board where the battery would be installed.

Some of the early versions do not have a battery location at all. But you can still install a battery. And we can help you with the details on that if needed.

I just recently bought this synthesizer and need help to fix it. When I turn it on, it sometimes has only a kinda swaying chorus sound, and sometimes a horrible high pitch filter type sound. I have the factory data cassette tape to load it on, and sometimes it loads back on to original factory setting, then later it goes back to the way it was when I bought it with all the swaying chorus sound to the high pitch screeching sound. Do I need to install a new battery so something?
