OK, the version 2.43 zip file at hawk800.com now has the updated MIDI parameter quick reference and MIDI implementation charts updated to reflect the actual state of the software.

First up, Bank Select (32) changes the bank but does not change the patch. After you change the bank, you have to send a program change to select any patch (including the current one shown on the display).

Second, I have not properly updated the MIDI implementation chart. So the patch send acknowledgment message is probably different to what the MIDI chart says. I'll go back and check that out today and will confirm it for you (which might include the updated MIDI implementation chart).

If you know java then you could definitely help me to finish the patch editor/librarian that I've been working on.

Mike.

So this will be implemented as a SYSEX dump eventually just like the SW upgrades? That will be nice... I like that you're going all flash. UV EPROMS are kind of a pain to deal with even though I have all the stuff to program and erase them.

I have been experimenting with those dumps and I don't seem to be getting the patch acknowledgment message "F0 42 21 06 F7" from the synth. I get the "F0 42 21 01 F7" message after the bulk dump though. There are some weird things with the MIDI CCs too, but I haven't played with them enough to figure out specific problems. The one thing I noticed is CC 32 (Bank Select) does not seem to work at all. Is there a better place to post possible bugs or would that just be on here?

I forgot to tell you that the board quality is very nice. Much improved from the original single sided board. I was looking through your blog posts and realized how long you've been at this. You have come a long way! Let me know what type of help I can lend and I'll do my best to pitch in.

It's at the bottom of the page. The file is named boot.bin.txt so that after you download it to your PC you will need to rename it as boot.bin. The boot file is version 1.5 which has the extra flash download integrity checking etc.

This allows HAWK owners to upgrade the boot ROM by sending the boot code to the first normal software flash ROM and then swapping it with the original boot ROM.
