Subject: HAWK-800 software update coming soon and AtomaHawk update

Hi Poly fans and most importantly, HAWK-800 users,

I am putting the finishing touches on the latest software release for
the HAWK-800. Some of the most important new features are:

The two existing LFO's (LFO1 and LFO2) will now have triangle,
sawtooth, sine, square wave with PWM and random sample and hold. All
wave forms can be inverted (except random S&H).

There will be two SLFO's known as SLFO3 and SLFO4.

The rate of LFO1 can be modulated by SLFO3.
The rate of LFO2 can be modulated by SLFO4.

SLFO3 and SLFO4 have free running modes and all of the same waveforms
available as LFO1 and LFO2.

DCO modulation can now be modulated by LFO1 or LFO2 and EG3 can also
be applied to the DCO. Also, the EG applied to the DCO can be inverted.

DCO can be applied to BEND instead of just DCO vibrato. Since vibrator
only moves one semitone either side of the root note, whereas the bend
moves a full seven notes either way, this means that the DCO
modulation can be far more extreme than previously available. Great
for sirens and other similar effects.

VCF has LFO1 or LFO2 applied and can also have LFO1, 2, 3 or 4 applied
as a second modulator.

Resonance now has a much broader set point (0-99) and can have LFO1
thru 4 applied as well as EG3. This feature is available regardless of
the use of Moog Slayer or not.

With all of this comes only one drawback and that is that all of the
extended parameter numbers have been reordered. This is to make all of
the new parameters that control the above features fit into a much
more logical and user friendly parameter numbering arrangement.

This would mean that anyone who has already put together patches using
the HAWK-800 will have to write down those patch settings by hand and
then re-enter them after the software upgrade is completed. I don't
intend and will not be writing any utility to do this automatically
(well not unless there is a risk of a Poly 800 community breakdown).

Atomahawk Update

I have a prototype Moog Slayer and FM800 plus 12/24 db filter mod in
place on my Poly 800.

Extended parameters are in place that allow FM800 set point, LFO1-4
modulation and EG3 control with inversion. Also, if you don't have the
AtomaHawk kit then all of the FM800 extended parameters double as
controllers of the modulation of the white noise generator. An
extended parameter allows setting FM800 modulation, FM800 and Noise
modulation or just noise modulation.

I am about half way through developing the printed circuit board for
the AtomaHawk. I expect that to be finished within a couple of weeks.
Then we'll be getting really close to making the AtomaHawk kit
available to all.

Feel free to ask questions and make comments or suggestions.

Mike.
