Subject: FAQ REQUEST

Greetings from a long-time lurker in this group...please bear with an
overlong post...

I have owned an EX-800 (along with a pair of EX-8000s and lots of
Roland MKS', BTW) for many years and seldom use it. Once ever other
year or so I get to feeling broke (usually end of the year) and
overburdened with storing underused gear and decide to sell it, but
have to plug it up to test/audition it first. Thing is, each time I
give it a new listen, I fall in love with it all over again! It just
takes up too many rack spaces (and I have no ears for it anyway) for
me to include it in my gigging rig, and my "home studio" doesn't seem
to get much use for lack of time, BUT THE SOUND KILLS.

The hardware mod clearly is awesome judging from all the reviews and
the sample files I've heard, but the SOFTWARE enhancements being
spoken about are just mind-boggling to me. The messages I was
reading in this group late spring and early summer of this year
seemed to suggest that the final kit release was just around the
corner, so now I'm checking in again to see where it's all at and I
confess that I am THOROUGHLY CONFUSED. There's the original moog
slayer hardware mod, then there's a Hawk, and there is soon to be an
Atomahawk? Do I have that part right?

What I fail to see is a FAQ containing: 1) a succinct description of
current state of kit development, and 2) info on where to go TO BUY
THE KIT! I've been holding off on moog slayer mod while waiting for
the software enhancements spoken of, and now have to wonder whether I
ought not wait for the newer Atomahawk...?

Perhaps I should add that I have NO interest in sequencing features
(really got a kick out of the post complaining about only room for
ONE song -- showing his age there, I think), the arpeggiator
possibility sounds like a cool feature for noodling around at home,
but not likely to see much use live (by me, that is), so i don't know
whether the Atomahawk enhancements, whatever they are, might be of
interest to me.

Is there a relationship between Hawk and Atomahawk? I've spent two
hours reading back through messages and found it educational, useful
and entertaining, but leaves me with too many questions...

BTW, I have ready cash and will be glad to buy the kit in current
development once I figure out if it's the right thing for me (as
opposed to waiting for the later Atomahawk).

Thanx,

Pablo

P.S. -- the skill set in accomplishing these things, as I said, just
boggles my mind. Any possibility that one or more of you geniuses
might be interested/available in consulting on other music gear
related work? I have needs....
