Subject: Update - Odd even synchronized units

Hi Poly fans,

Well, I just completed a feature that will really expand the abilities
of the Poly 800 and EX 800 for anyone that has two Poly units.

There is a new global mode parameter (32) that is called Cascade Mode.
Possible values are 0,1 and 2. Zero sets the cascade mode to off.
But then the EX800 or Poly 800 only plays odd notes when cascade mode
is set to 1 and only plays even notes when set to 2.

This means that you can double your polyphony if you have two Poly's
by setting one to cascade odd mode and the other to even.

I'm now working on global mode parameter (33) which will automatically
synchronize the selected patch between the two units. The odd (master)
unit will send out a sysex message immediately after each program
change so that the even unit (slave) will have the exact same
parameters set each time a program change occurs.

From a MIDI cable patch set up point of view, cascade mode will work
but the synchronization could get a little tricky. I think that two
units hooked up together with synchronization would mean that we would
need some sort of soft thru capability. So I am looking into how that
can be achieved.

Right now I haven't got a second mod kit built so I can't really
demonstrate the added polyphony of two Poly's working in cascade mode.
So I guess I really should stop developing new software features and
start working on the new printed circuit board.

Plus, I am probably going to want to get the hardware kit out to some
early adopters so that we can start collaboratively developing new
features and also get the hardware field tested. So these are all good
reasons for me to get going on the PCB design.

Mike.
