Well, I'm certainly not a newbie to the list...I think I've been on
here for a couple of years now; I just don't post very much.

I came to own my Poly800 when my friend Paul gave it to me over two
years ago. It has a couple of minor issues: two of the keys aren't
working (probably needs a cleaning) and the jacks are a bit crackly
(again, probably just a cleaning). Otherwise it's in pretty good
shape. I am into making my own musical instrument projects, and I'm
considering making my 800 into a compact tabletop-style synth module,
but I don't know if it will still work without the keyboard or not. I
know what some of you will say, why not buy an EX, right? Well, I want
it to be even more compact than the EX800. I'd like it to be big
enough to house the display, keypad and all the controls and that's
about it. I'd play it strictly through midi, either with a controller
or a sequencer. My music is basically loop-based, and I think it would
work quite well for me this way.

That's about it!
