korgpolyex group:
A simple ROM upgrade could provide many new SYSEX functions to your EX800 or Poly 800 MK1.
However, to fit those extra functions into the small ROM chip would require removing some of the other functions.
Would you be willing to lose the tape and sequencer functions if you could get additional controllers as well as sysex patch dump and load functions?
In other words, instead of obtaining a full retrofit kit that requires hardware modifications, would you be interested in a ROM upgrade (that simply requires swapping out the ROM chip) if that upgrade removed the tape and sequencer functions?
o Yes definitely - I don't use the sequencer and I would prefer to use sysex for all patch editing and downloading.
o Yes - But it would be a pain to lose the sequencer and tape functions
o Yes - But I would keep the old ROM so I could use the tape functions if I really needer to.
o No - I absolutely must have the sequencer and tape functions
o No - I will wait for the full retrofit kit and will do the necessary hardware modifications.
