Hi Atom,
Velocity features are completely out of the question because
that would require modifying the keyboard mechanism itself. Something
I simply cannot do right now is set up a real metal shop. Sorry about
that. Besides which, it would blow our $120 sale price.
Mono 4/8 layered - oh yeah that will be doable and very nice indeed.
Portamento looks doable. But might end up tricky as we'll have to
slide from one note to the next, then change note up one with the
slide reset to zero and then slide up to the next, and so on.
7 bit parameters should be doable also although there might be
limitations on things like MG frequency. If we change the range from
16 (0-15) to 127 thus making the MG run nice and slow then you may
notice the step changes at the slow rates. This is something we'll
have to test. The DEG's could be affected in the same manner. Slow
them down too much and you might here the step changes in volume and
or filter steps.
At this point, I am disassembling the EX800. The Poly will have to
wait until the EX800 is done. I figured it would be easier to reverse
engineer the EX800 and certainly easier to build the retrofit kit into
it. When completed, it would be a matter of adding the keyboard and
joystick code (which should in theory be easier to find in the Poly800
ROM once I have intimate knowledge of the EX800).
Has anyone noticed how there hasn't been an EX800 on ebay for several
weeks? Where did they all go?
Anyway, this could take a while.
