hmm. I don't think it would be the power supply...or grounding...probably
the gum stuff doesn't matter that much, unless it's keeping something from
shorting out. I think usually the kind of noise you describe is caused by a
cold solder joint or a bad semiconductor (chip, transistor, etc.). Try to
find what section the noise is coming from, I would think it's coming after
the filter...so...check the output amp or something. Anyway I know the
feeling of having a noisy synth. My EPS emits all manner of snaps,
crackles, and pops from one of its outputs, I ∗think∗ the problem is on one
chip but the chip is obsolete (MC34085 - anyone know where to find one for
cheap?) so that's going to be a tough one...
