When I first got my Poly800 I used whatever power adaptor I could find, and
it was only after I complained about the crap sound to the person I bought
from, that I tried a higher rating adaptor (500ma, I think), and that fixed
the problem.
You definitely need to get another adaptor, and then see if you have any
other problems. And the one I'm using now is just a Tandy-style universal.
