It does sound familiar, but I sincerely hope it isn't. Sounds pretty much
like what I got when my poly died. No display, no audio, but a faint sound
that seemed to go right through the frequency range...
Apparently mine blew all the way through, a technician found that at least the
two main processing chips were dead, and eventually it was given up as a lost
cause. I really hope this isn't the case with yours, and it's just a simple
error somewhere.
I was going to ask if you've tried editing a patch to make sure it's they
aren't set to nothing, but if you can't see the display I guess that's not
much help.
Maybe try reading through the text file I uploaded to the group's filespace on
yahoo - I recall it saying something about the display driver, maybe you could
figure out potential areas that would stop the display from working, which may
in turn stop the rest of the keyboard.
Oh, might also want to test it with MIDI, just in case. Who knows, it might
still send, or it could respond to MIDI. Maybe.
On a different topic - how does the idea of everyone submitting their
favourite patch settings sound? Preferably home-made ones, but hey,
anything's better than nothing?
I'll keep track of them all and start compiling some sort of super-patch
sheets...
OK, I'll start it rolling - I think this one is pretty-much a slightly edited
factory patch, it's a squelchy synth I guess you could maybe describe as
"acid"(?) (NB: the filter patches are set so I get a decent range with the
cutoff and resonance knobs, you may need to adjust to taste!)
