Start by measuring on stuff you know the expected voltage. For example batteries or low voltage sources, so that you get to know your instrument. Much easier if you know that you are using it right.

It seems as though when I am attempting to trace and measure voltage within circuits. I keep getting the same voltage at every point in the circuit...


Please tell me what I am doing wrong.


I have my multimeter set to voltage, its an auto sensing meter for both AC/DC and the range...


I put the common lead (black) on the ground terminal on the power input module board that comes straight in from the power input module (IEC).


I then use the red lead as my pointer to poke around at certain components...


I apologize for such a newbie question, wasting your time. But it will greatly help me solve the problem of my MonoPoly and its current state of no Resonance in the Filter...
