Subject: Re: EML 500 Help

Hi Van, and welcome here. Maybe this will help:

http://www.cem3374.com/docs/Manuals/EML/400_SM.pdf

Or maybe it won't. There seems to be enough interest in interfacing EML synths with external controls that maybe someone good with electronics could design an interface module. It would do something like triggering the output of the correct voltage for a specific Electrocomp pitch in response to detecting a voltage that would produce that pitch on a standard-ratio volts-per-octave synth.

On the McLeyvier, which was digitally-controlled analog, we had essentially a lille volt-meter and a frequency detector on each of the voice cards. The user would run a calibration program from time to time that would loop until it had established a table of numerical offsets to the number being sent to the control voltage DAC that produced each desired pitch of the scale. That might of course be overkill for normal humans, but something should be possible for the Ecomps.

These do not seem to be mods made by the previous owner as the "overlay" (graphics) match the outputs.
