Hi Mike, Bill, Brian, everyone
Actually, to set the record straight, though it did take some time, I sold
THREE Paia 2700s for the asking prices / higher. I have one more available.
So what reserve price was "outrageous"??
I have also sold several EML products for my asking prices with no trouble
at all.
Other items take some time to sell.
I do have other EML equipment available now and have no problem admitting
that the prices are on the high side, but I dont consider them "outrageous"
considering their rarity and other factors involved.
Not only do I offer items which can be hard to find, but I am also one of
the few people who sells ancient equipment like this on eBay (or elsewhere)
who actually knows / cares enough to verify its functionality (and have it
it serviced if necessary) before selling. I also have plenty of experience
packing and shipping fragile equipment like EMLs. I always find it
disturbing to see people overly critical of me when every month you can find
people posting the same type of items in poor condition stating they know
little about them and are selling as is, yet always manage to get good money
for what they are selling.
I know people who feel they have been burned by such transactions on eBay,
but its really their own fault for being so naive and taking such a gamble.
I think it is great when people find bargains (like the dirt cheap 500 you
mention) but many of the bargains my friends have found in recent years have
ended up costing a lot of time and money in restoration. Some people have
more time to wait for a deal to fall into their laps or complain about what
they consider high prices than others :)
If you are seriously interested in a restored EML101 or other EML products,
feel free to email me. (Please email me through my ebay email address
though - see below)
Mike, you do a great job with this list and I appreciate our personal
correspondence and your effort to keep this place more civilized than some
other lists I have been on in the past.
Thanks,
Mini
