Patrice,

not that well I'm afraid, always loved the sound and got myself and SDS8, and an
SDS6 on its way..

I remember seeing the module, but never the actually cymbal its-self.
Therefore anypads would do the job just the shape was different ....
I have to look in the HD & see if I still have one photo ...

Hmm, SDX.....

but not something you see a lot of bands doing, at least not live ones.
I understand the pro in the studio does, but why shouldn't small local bands?
I'm not talking about studio , in studio they don't anymore I think as there's a functiun in ProTools for example called "Sound Replacer", you just take the wave form of your different snares, toms as trigging point ...etc...& you assign another sample directly that will follow dynamics...
Metal bands are using triggers to trigg noise gate sometimes ...
In fact, I'm talking about live Gigs, most of the time there are some triggers...not in jazz I presume, but metal bands have some, pop bands etc...Maybe it depends in what countries, I've seen it a lot in France, in Italy , in UK too...from the 90's to recently ...
Local bands don't necessary have the money to buy a DDrum3 (the only very reliable & professional kit specialised in acoustic triggering ), & Simmons is sadly old school for the moment... I consider roland & Yamaha not convincing ...
Or the local bands don't have an album sound that obliges the samples ...In local bands , I often bring my DDrum 3, & I will soon bring an SDSV , 3 , or 7 to add a bit of magic in all that...

I agree, the whole 'concept' of a band has changed, no-one seems to play a whole
tune and record it, they all seem to do 'bits'..
yes , this is the actual way of doing things...it might change again ...I think It's coming from the Drumloops use which is creating a certain sound on the whole track...
I understand the need for
perfection in the studio, but what about the music?
Maybe, I'm just getting old :-)
I think it's just a matter of the way it sounds...
fashion !!!
It must be for the same reason that SImmons went "on the Edge" & that we all want one now ...

odd, A friend of mine bought an SDS5 with just 3 modules in, so I assumed that
was the low spec...
I might be wrong too , but it seems exceptionnal..maybe following the country needs again ...
I know there has been some special hardware for US for example...
I'll fix that, thanks.
You're welcome !
bye. Patrice.
