Subject: Re: [Simmons Drums] Dynacord P20 Brain ?

The P20 is a unit NOT to recommend.

This has several reasons: You have a rude 8-bit sample player with a few (strange) internal sounds. If you want to add more, you have to look for these cartridges, containing only one sound each. The player has poor dynamics only affecting the drum volume. It sounds simply "static". No pitch, bend, decay, filter: nothing. Open inputs (without pads connected) start to oscillate and trigger.

The sound quality of the old 8-bit cartridges is also poor, because they had not the possibilities of tweaking the sounds these days. The sounds are dull and dark. The storage of programs only includes the volume settings or multiple trigger effects.

It is easier to buy an Alesis Sample Pad for this purpose. This will be no dissapointment like the P20.

I have got one, because I am collecting these things, but I never like to play it. So: If you are not a collector: hands off!

Best

Michael

Hey all!

I hate asking on a Simmons board, but I can find little on Dynacord drums.

I'm in the US & these are not easily found. I have a P20 that I'm looking at - what on earth is a reasonable price on the P20 brain only?

& is the P20 a good brain or a "lame" brain?

I really appreciate your help -Chris

another Simmons SDS 1000 ? to follow ...
