the battery for the mtm has to be rechargeable,i went to radio shack or the source and bought a four AA battery holder and three AA nihi ,1.2 volts rechargeable batteries, then resolder the holder so it works for three batteries just move the wire over to battery three as you wont need the fourth (1.2 x 3=3.6volts),this way it is easy to replace them and if it leaks the container will hold it hopefully,so then i took the plastic cap off and used a razor blade and small screwdriver to pry off the welded tabs and soldered a wire from the positive of circuit board to positive of battery pack, then the negative to negative, and it works. if you pry the battery off and tabs break, then pull circuit board off and solder directly to the the circuit board path.once i rebuit the circuit path eaten by the acid leak using real tin foil duct tape ,i used and ohm meter to trace out every path and resoldered every joint because as soon as the it got cold the bars would show up instead of the startup display, which i think happens when the battery shorts out and poor soldering joints, its been along battle, but the battry advice came from Michael a support from the drum museum,Simmons repair expert
