I saw something about disable the termination in the zip drive but I just don't know what that means...
I live in London, not the hottest country lol but I will love to replace the fan cooler too, the noise is awful.
Mine is broken too in some way, some parts in the power supply and that generate some hum in both channels.
I have a hd with the 2.1 and 3.1 soft and the SDX powers up perfectly.
The problem is not the lovely SDX, the problem are the prices, I paid £60 for a bloody hard drive (with both systems and a couple of drum kits) when in fact the explanation of how to do it is perfectly explained in this group and the hd is £10, I made 2 hd for 2 friends and took me 10 minutes to do it! and the list of the money I paid for for things SDX related is awful, but ok back to the main subject because everytime I think about this i feel very upset...
I really want to back up the floppy discs in zip discs because the floppys are fading very fast, I got a recovery program to save the ones that are dead and I saved most of them but i really need to back up the floppy discs then any help will be apreciated.

I did ask you some questions about your SDX and zip drives but you didn't reply.

Anyway, Zip drives are not easy to set up with the SDX. Someone did explain it to me once and I said no thanks.
When I tried termination using external HD drives when I first started experimenting with my SDX, it switched off all the electric in the house.
I would not use termination with the SDX and it doesn't need it to work anyway.
I know someone who uses zip with an SDX. Maybe if I ask them nicely they will help me. I will try.
At the moment I am testing a compact flash card system, and it seems to work.But it could be expensive to put together if you pay top price for the parts.
I have already replaced the internal fan with a quiet pc one so I should have a super quiet system soon, when I install the CF card.
I wouldn't advise changing the fan if you live in a hot country.
I am not an expert, but I can try to help.
I bought a broken SDX and it took me 7 months to fix it. I thought about killing myself many times.
Does you SDX work now(boot up)?
You only have floppy drive working now?
Which OS are you using?
When you see the start up screen after clicking on continue,which drives show up in the right side bottom corner of the screen?

Some advice when using the SDX. Count slowly 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10 aaaahhhhhhh think twice click once(or twice)

Ok,
I bought 2 external scsi zip drives, the SDX destroyed both, after the drives had been connected to the SDX it stopped working, the zip drives now lights up but not any other function is working, not eject not read, Fantastic! the SDX is capable to destroy external units! now I feel good!
When I plugged the scsi zip drive automatically the internal hd stop being recognized by the SDX, not on the list not anywhere in the SDX system, simply the SDX doean't recognize hd or external zip anymore, just the floppy drive (Don't tell me to read the fu∗∗∗∗g manual or the tutorial to format the hd because this have nothing to do with that).
I tried everything, change number (5 or 6), change termination (on/off) and the SDX still don't recognize nothing and now on top of that for some reason made the zip drive stop working, great!
The SDX is a nightmare in every way (including the people I knew thanks to "her").
Then just one option, I can use the SDX with a internal hd, I tried a internal scsi zip drive and didn't recognize it either, then I'm stuck with a f'ing internal hd, this have to do with "how the hd was made/programmed?" "have to do with something else?" I really don't know.
I know is a little complicated in the Simmons world to get help "for free" but if somebody knows why this happened I apreciate the help before give up and sell it to another person who's very interested in this useless piece of sh∗t.
