Subject: Re: [Simmons Drums] Tom to Clap conversion?

It is not that easy.
The cym waveform is looped, with a counter system that provides a back-and-forth looping. The Eprom is read out permanent and is not resetted or stopped. The circuitry can handle only 2732, a 4k Eprom. For the waveform ok, but not for a clap sample.
It is possible to convert the analogue musicaid claptrap for SDSV use, because of the same supply voltages. But the triggering of it is poor, so it makes no sense.

Funny that Michael posted the hi-hat conversion post as I was thinking of a similar thing to write tonight.

I have a tom module that I'd love converted into a clap module. Could a clap eprom be added to the board easily? Has anybody ever did this and could offer this service?

There is a clap sound on the SDS-1 that is fantastic, not sure what it's called but if you check out Movement by LCD Soundsystem, it's right there at the start.

Cheers
Dave
