It is a socket for the SDS6 sequencer. You can put gate triggers up to 15V to the pins of the DIN socket to trigger the SDS8, check the internal wiring first. It will not work with MIDI or Roland DINsync.

Subject: [Simmons Drums] Sequencer jack on back of SDS-8--Have you used it? What's it for?
I just hooked up my SDS-8 with some new (used) simmons sds-8 (red ones) pads. The unit works great, awesome analog sounds, but I was wondering: What's the sequencer jack for? It isn't a midi jack but a midi cable would fit in it. Would it match up to a Roland Din cable? What types of sequencers can be hooked up to the SDS-8? The manual has little to no info about this.
