Ok so thought id give you all an update, couldnt find schematics
anywhere, but downloaded the user manual from simmons museum (thanks
wolfgang!) unwrapped it, powered it up, wired in some computer
speakers to the headphone socket...as described lights on no sound,
did a factory reset as per the manual still no sound, took the top
off and s∗∗t myself was expecting it to be all transistors and bits
due to the age (TTL was what i thought it would be) instead im faced
with a veritable chip shop, at least 5 of which have the simmons
logo on them and not a lot else...however even a blind monkey could
have found this one one of the 2 big 23v capacitors had a blown can
bottom, changed it out and bingo everything works. so SDS2000
no000397 is resurected, polished and has been added to the
setup...total cost £50 inc delivery, capacitor free from a box of
bits and RS £1.95 for some slider knobs.

now questions for all you list gods/demigods/demons or plebs like
me...does anyone have any idea what sort of card goes in the
soundcard slot? does anyone, know anyone, who has a friend, who may
know where to get and how to program the said card, to gain access
to the other available sounds for this beasty?

no thought not;-)
