They are correct. It can receive velocity and channel aftertouch.

That's a good question. I believe they send very similar data. I don't
have an MPG-80, and this issue is not addressed in the service notes. I
would get software like Kurzweil's MIDIScope and look at it.

Yes, you can assign the LPF cutoff frequency to aftertouch.
