It took a while (man, so busy!) but I checked the placement of the boards:
upper two:CDAB
lower two:GHEF
A, B, C, etc...correspond with the oscs (voices) of which you have (guess
what...!?) eight available in normal operation. If either the seventh or the
eighth voice is dead, you'll need to get in with a scope to find out which
one is the dead one. At least, that was the only way for me to find out
which (E of F) was broken on mine...
Be adviced that there are quite a lot of custom ICs used, even for the oscs.
If you find one of them broken, try calling Roland (all around the world)
for a replacement. The machine is worth it.
BTW,
Did you get the service manuel yet?
