You don't really say what it is about the sound that you don't like. I've
had one for quite a while, so I can give you an idea of what I use
it for.
NOT BASS. For some reason it's pretty hard to get a really warm bassline
out of the thing. You can come pretty close if you use triangle waves,
but it just seems to lack oomph in that department.
My favorite sounds with the JP6 are using either the bandpass or hipass
filter. It can really cut through the mix. You can get great sounds
using the hard sync -- sync OSC1 to OSC2, set the OSC MIX to all OSC1,
and then turn up the LFO->Frequency modulation on OSC1. Then
experiment with different waveforms for OSC2.
The JP6 is great for having a 'cutting' sound -- it can stand out in
a busy mix. The envelopes are very fast, so when you use short envelopes
you can really get them to pop.
