I was able to build mine with no bracket hacking - I just used two of
the bridechamber 3 pot brackets - only had to do some minor
adjustments with some tin snips. This was with Scott's
non-motm-standard pot spacing, along with my fpd design. There's a bit
of space between the two brackets, which didn't seem to affect the
rigidity of the assembly too much, but just for good measure I put
some duct tape between them - this is my first chance to use duct tape
in any of my modular projects, and it's about time!
