FPE panels are anodized, not painted. Their black anodize is a bit on the flat side.  I much prefer the MOTM/Stoogepaint and silk screen, but it is not always available.

Mineare punched aluminum, .125" thick. Paint is textured black.
(First run 1U modules were .09" thick; this has been remedied.)
FPE paint is horrible, and way too expensive for the quality, especially whenthey charge per tick mark. If Doug can figure a way to do custom panels forpeople, with Stooge quality... that would be superb.
Stooges looked exactly like MOTM to me. Mine are a little different. Thetextured paint is subtly different, the paint is whiter, and I'm still debatingwhether to match the graphics exactly.
