I visited your site and really tend to agree with your 'graphical
inclinations'. While I am just getting back into this whole thing
myself - after...(a looooonnnnnng time) I have found myself perusing
the web unscrupulously to see whats out there these days. I find
many different styles - while everything seems to have originated
mostly from the past-with perhaps a few exceptions. While I cannot
delve into MY insanity into this topic here, due to time constraints -
I do believe that your ideas about indicating "signal flow" are
really where I'd like to go.
This is mainly for 2 reasons: I think it helps to make the whole
concept of 'synthesis' abit more comprehendable to me AND (more
importantly) others. And two - yes I can admit that after a 2-
day 'patching binge' I cannot stand to have to go back and pull on
cords and 'retrace' where I think I'm going!
I mean to me: "synthesizing", (and I do confess to owning a Kurzweil
2500 that still has me in awe - and about 20 other beasts from all
vintage years)is an extremely creative process and I cannot stand to
be deterred by "technology" or my own diminishing cranial capacity.
So - I like to see more signal flow attempts in the graphics. The
only drawback to this approach is when you start completely messing
with all the 'ins' and the 'outs' and then nothing would make sense
anyways at that point! So be it - I still don't want to have to think
too hard, 3/4 of the way into a patch, about what I've already done!
Sorry I didn't say too much about the tickmarks (guess that was the
point of your post after all -eh?)- the jury is still out on that for
me. I like alot of them and also log scales where they apply - this
is where some of the older Moog (as opposed to newer? laughs) - or
other stuff which escapes me now, is pretty cool to me.
Just my slowly creeping-in 2 cent senility,
Hope to see more of your evolution!
Regards,
Rog
