Subject: Re: [ModularSynthPanels] FrontPanelExpress In-Filling

Years ago I worked at a facility that did their panel engraving in house. They used Testor's Model Enamel and a small brush to fill in the engraving and kept a paper towel handy for when they spilled a bit on the front surface.

I tried it on a similar project of my own and it didn't take much practice to become very adept at filling in the letters cleanly. It took two or three applications of paint to fill the engraving to a suitable depth.

Maybe the same method might work for you.

I was surprised by my most recent panel that the engravings were not filled. I've read a lot about people who go with no in-filling and it does look pretty nice.

I checked my design files and every legend was in-filled with white. I emailed FrontPanelExress and they called me back. On the panel properties there is a check box that is required to enable in-filling the engravings. It must be checked before any of the legend properties will take affect.

I didn't know that. They offered to in-fill them for me but I'm going to give it a go with an oil-paint stick. If it doesn't work I can clean it off and send it back for them to do it.

Thought I'd pass this tip along. It may be important if you start with someone else's panel design.
