Went to see the band at House Of Blues in Cleveland last night(Friday 15th). Amazingly
good show, in spite of some minor sound mix issues and a few band timing glitches. Tron
sounds made an appearance.. .they did IN THE COURT OF THE CRIMSON KING(!!) as
Wetton's "Crimson career" number, an odd choice given he wasn't in the first line-up.
Steve Howe actually was smiling all night and appeared to be enjoying himself. The other
tron sound appearance was on CUTTING IT FINE, with Downes end solo appearing as
backing tracks directly from the CD and he performed "live" over it...tron choir in the mix
as usual. They performed the first album in it's entirety, some of ALPHA (unplugged) and
RIDE EASY (b-side single) as well as ROUNDABOUT (not entirely successful with Wetton
singing but still not bad),FANFARE FOR THE COMMON MAN(Steve added some interesting
guitar),VIDEO KILLED THE RADIO STAR(with Wetton singing thru a bullhorn and Downes in
his old silver jacket & sunglasses) plus Carl did an absolutely incredible drum solo on
HEAT GOES ON..the guy sounded better than ever! The packed house response seemed to
genuinely blow the guys away...Wetton in particular appeared overwhelmed. There's rumor
of DVD and a live CD from the tour so if you miss it you'll get a chance to catch it
later.Overall I'm glad I went:)
