Yep.

I saw Steve Miller do the Number 5 tunes back in 73/74  ...(If I remember the concert date at Madison U).

I just learned that iTunes has made available many of these early tracks from Children of the Future, Brave New World, Sailor, Numder 5 and a full (not partial album) release of his Anthology.
We're talkin pre Joker/Fly Like an Eagle Steve Miller stuff here, real San Francisco era stuff.

Needless to say I just racked up a bill with iTunes.

I just heard "In My Own Mind" from Steve Miller's Children of the Future and it has a lot of very nice sounding Mellotron on it (must be MKII, 3-violins), played along with organ.  I tried to find this song and "Good Morning" on iTunes, but they weren't available.  At least the CDs are easy to find.

Yes, some the the early Steve Miller stuff is great.  I guess I know why they call him the "Space Cowboy".  Although, I prefer a little more ∗space∗ and a little less ∗cowboy∗, but that's just me ;-).
