More Klaatu Trivia:

The inspiration for the Song "Calling Occupants of Interplanetary Craft" was a magazine article from the late 1940s or early 1950s describing a "World Contact Day" that was being proposed at the time.  The idea in the article was for everyone to "close their eyes and concentrate" and contact space travellers through telepathy.  If I remember correctly, the article actually started out with the words "Calling Occupants of Interplanetary Craft!, Calling Occupants of Interplanetary Craft!"

Do any of these word sound familiar?  Most of the lyrics appear to have come directly from this article.  I couldn't believe it when I read the article.  I had always thought that the lyrics and idea for the song were totally original.  I still give them (Klaatu) credit though, for pulling it all together.

Reminds me about the story of Lennon's "Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite" from Sgt. Pepper.  That song was inspired from a circus poster, and some of the lyrics in that song were on the poster.

It's interesting where ideas for songs come from.
