Not to beat a dead horse about the flutes on "Daniel", but I just asked Brian Kehew about them (today) and here's his response:
>"Daniel" - Ken Scott - who played it - says it was the ARP, he's very proud >of that patch and the patch he made for sax sounds on "Suffragette City". >Be aware that its an ARP modular, and not just an Odyssey. He could >program breaths and randomenss into it...
This is pretty much what he reported earlier (below), with the addition of the programming for breaths and randomness.

Funny how these things go in circles. Back in March `99 the
subject of
Mellotron Greatest Hits was being discussed. The subject of the
flute on Daniel came up and the following was posted to the list
by Brian Kehew, who unfortunately is no longer on the list.

I remember this incident because I was so devastated to discover
that the wonderful Daniel flute was not Tron! But there is lots
of other good use of Tron on EJ's early works. The flute solo on
Lucy in the Sky is great. Thanks for pointing it out Rick. Sounds
like Mk II to me as opposed to most of his other stuff which I
have always assumed was M400.
