My understanding is Steven Wilson is the keeper of the Mellotron... He has used it quite a bit throughout the PT discography and other side projects...
He also brought the Tron to the album Damnation by Opeth (Yes, that extremely noisy cookie monster band)... It's actually a nice listen...
But fake 'Tron. :-)
I did ask him once if he thought of bringing it on tour... His comment was "Not with our roadies... They would be swimming in tapes"...
Interesting... I was beginning to suspect they never actually used a real one. I know someone who knows him, but he seems disinclined to ask him about it on my behalf. :-)
