It just can't be a Mellotron. The album was recorded in Brian Wilson's
home studio in California, and Mark 2's just really never came to the
States...am I right? It seems we all got into a discussion here about
that when early Steve Miller Band LP's were coming out with 'tron on
them in 1968-1969 (but they were recorded in London).

When you listen to the song Country Air, the sound of the taped repro
of strings doesn't even sound like Chamberlin strings. One note is
played three times during the song, and each time the tinny sound
breaks up briefly--like the speaker has a ripped paper cone, or too
much power is driven through a tweeter/transistor radio-type speaker.

Cool sound, though...but what really was the instrument used?
Brian did own a MKII
