not to pick nits, but i think you mean jimmy iovine of interscope.
donnie ienner is at columbia records/sony music.

according to this blog entry, iovine kept the lennon-tron in his office:
http://www.myspace.com/maimou

excerpt:
"This was a little overwhelming. We had set our sights on some cool
indies, and suddenly we are on Jimmy Iovines leather couch looking at
John Lennon's Mellotron."

can't really tell the date from the context of the comment though :(

looks like it was still there ~2004 though:
"In Iovine's Manhattan office sat John Lennon's mellotron, as played on
Strawberry Fields Forever. Iovine invited Rice-Oxley to play it. Then he
signed the band and has taken personal responsibility for their assault on
America this year."

[if it was donnie ienner that had the lennon-tron i could get a pick no
problem. i have his office number and have spoken to both him and his
assistant many times over the years. we had a deal with columbia/sony for
over 10 years. we sold nearly 100 million records for them... that's NOT
a typo... {end of name-dropping/boasting - it was not music i played or
even liked - we just sold a buttload of records for sony}]
