"Ciclos" & "Contaminazione" IMHO are great albums, but different as
night and day. "Contaminazione" jumps all over the place/shifts on a
dime and is a roller coaster of soft passages and explosive
crescendos, whereas "Ciclos" drifts along at an easier pace. Both
gorgeous and very rehearsed sessions, indeed. RDM interprets J. S.
Bach; Canarios realises Vivaldi. I like the first side "The Remote
Paradise" best, and the other three sides bring up the same basic
theme and recycles it a bit, yet it does not get drawn out. The
highlight track for me on the RDM LP is "Ora Non Ricordo Pu'/Il Suono
Del Silenzio" with tons of rock riff guitar/synth and monstrous
cathedral reverb organ just blast away between these lush
orchestral/vocal passages and other condensed drama moments. I think
this is RDM's second album; the first-Io Como Io, I understand is a
lot different and bland compared to this hyperkinetic workout.
