I have and have played around with both the AKG BX-5 and BX-20
spring reverbs with the Mellotron. They both do a good job of adding
a bit of mellowness and boing! to the sound. :-) Other units
I have and like are the Masterroom XL-121 (mono spring), XL-305
(chamber in a rackmount form factor), Roland RV-800, and the higher
end digital units (Lex 480, Quantec, AMS, etc).

The spring reverbs with EQ do a lot to help shape the sound since you
can EQ the reverb and mix it back in w. the original and get a very
full sound w/o being an obvious 'Mellotron played in a cavern' sound.
