According to snopes.com, the urban legends web site, the story is not
true.
But so what? It's a great story and it's very inspirational. And
Itzhak Perlman is certainly an inspirational musician. And assuming
for the moment that the story is fiction, it is a testament to
Perlman's character and accomplishments that he was chosen as the
subject of the story.
And underneath it all is the understanding that true artists often
happily embrace limitations.
