Subject: Some confusion...

From: Jack Younger <e4103s@...>

Hello, all!
There has been a touch of confusion as to my
response to a link of my EMI's previous exploits. I
would like to make it very clear that the recent work
done on my machine was my own hard sweat and toil,
under the watchful and brilliant eye of the right
honorable Markus Resch. The pics were of an attempt
to assess the machine's issues and address them. Some
work was done and the previous owner decided to
abandon the unit in favour of another, less
troublesome unit. Check out the link:

The above scenario facilitated my joyous purchase
of EMI103s in December 2004 with the intent of giving
it the loving home, solid restoration and frequent use
it so sorely deserves.
EMI103s is a strange and rare unit that has
undergone a series of identity changes from the minute
of it's construction at the EMI factory in the 70's,
to it's shipment and transformation at DMI shortly
thereafter (presumedly), right up until recent days.
It is a somewhat confusing collage of parts, cabinet
materials and faceplates from different models which
has made restoration a fun and interesting challenge.
There are still many mysteries to unravel.
Please don't misunderstand. This is not a slight
on the New England or Canadian Mellotron factions at
all. Ken and Streetly do marvelous and lovely work.
My decision to work with Markus is based on his
extensive historic knowledge, personal attention and
strict restorative integrity. I have no interest in
getting involved in past disputes or opening old
wounds. We are all very fortunate to have so many
caring and genius minds working toward a common goal
to maintain the legacy that is Mellotron, Novatron,
Chamberlin, Birotron, Orchestron, Optigan etc..
Cheers all!
