Subject: [Mellotronists] RE: Dec-11-2004 Philly Mellotron Workshop.....
Season's Greetings Everyone,
Here's a synopsis of last weekend's highly-successful
Mellotron Workshop held at St. Mary's Church Annex in
downtown Philly Dec-11-2004. Full story/details will appear in
forthcoming Webpage on KL's Website.
This was one of the Gatherings series organized by Chuck
van Zyl of Philly and announcer of Star's End music over NPR.
Moderated by Jeff Coulter , he ,Chuck and other attendees
were Gino Wong, Jimmy Moore ,Brad Schuman,KL and myself.
We had dinner at Victory microbrewery/restaurant nearby
a couple of days before the Workshop to "plan" our strategy .
Pierre wasn't able to attend , however we were able to provide
music, Mellotron demos by misc. attendees , history and relic-parts
"show-and-tell" (presented by myself) and #1037's Skellotron
assembly demo presented by KL. Brad's Streetly-restored Novatron
was there , along with Jeff Coulter's M400 and Jimmy's
"Formicatron." Four M400's in total. Approx. time was almost
8:30 PM to 11:00 PM . We had to pack-up everything by
11:30 PM-Midnight . Then back to Glen Mills in the Philly burbs.
There were approx. 35 people in the Workshop audience .
There was opportunity for interactive Q&A and hands-on
with the Trons . Audience response was very favorable.
Jimmy and family provided KL/myself with tour of local area
Sunday, including Brandywine Museum and a glimpse of
renowned artist Andrew Wyeth's residence nearby. The region is
very historic with some old grist-mills dating to early 1700's....
...."recent" by European standards,of course.
Our gracious hosts entertained us with great-meals, suds, tunes,
jam-sessions in Jimmy's bsmt,etc. Even Jimmy's cat named
"Copernicus" provided amusement , incl. a 6AM wake-up nip
to yours-truly's private parts (thru the sheets thankfully) !
Stay-tuned for "Mello-Kat's" live performance on the Formicatron
as well.....
KL/myself headed back North Mon-Tues to Boston and VT
respectively . About 8-10 inches snow was there to greet me
upon arrival home. Looks nice IF you don't get stuck !
That's it for now, gang. This year of 2004 has been a busy one
for MONEYPIT, about 6-7 occasions for New England Troniacs
to assemble around the USA. Your turn next, JB/MS ??
Happy Holidays and Cheers, -- Jerry Korb and fam.....
