Anyone aware of the fact that the Moodies were originally formed to
attract the attention of Midlands Brewers, Mitchell's and Butler's
(M&B) as a touring band primarily for M&B's pub network? Presumably to
gain a wedge of sponsorship cash.
Resisting the Brewery's suggestion that they should be called something
'corporate' such as "The M&B Showband" or "The M&B Five" they kept the
M&B in their name and became the "Moody Blues Five".
Would never happen these days, although I can think of a couple of
Midlanders who would relish such a thing.......
