My contribution (although sketchy):
.....According to JB, the very first mellotron (obviously one of thoseMkIs,
Jerry) met an awful fate right in the mellotron factory. It had been
crated up for shipment to the States and when it was being hoistedup
on a block and tackle into the back of a lorry, something went wrong
and it crashed down to the floor of the factory. If memory serves, the
useable parts went into another unit. Hmmm... Maybe fate was tryingto
tell the Bradleys something. Thankfully, John hasn't learned what itis
yet........ RickHelloGroup, Thanks for your input, Rick.
I havea photo given me by JB in 1998 of Les seated
atthe very first MK-I circa 1963 . Hopefully, it
wasn'tTHAT Tron which met an untimely fate.Actually,a rough beginning COULD spell better
timesahead, if one persists. Thomas Edison's
veryfirst lightbulb on 21-Oct-1879 lasted 40 hours
untilit expired due to excessive voltage added by
theWizard himself. But the very first lightbulb ever
made was broken , and never could be preserved for
futuregenerations to see/learn .Bylate 1880, Edison's handmade lightbulbs
withbamboo filaments lasted 1000 hours .
Blown-glass affairs with turned wooden bases and
screwthreads from kerosene cans. (see below)
Andevery successive Tron got better and better too .
